Going to pickup our new to us 2015 37CKSL next week. Just want some opinions about fresh, gray and black tank electric heaters for cold weather. I know the tank area is heated if the propane furnace is being used. Does anyone have any experience with cold weather and the water systems? How cold of outside temp have you ever been in? For how long?
        Thanks,

In our Cameo the FW tank is next to the pass through. When the propane heater is on the pass through is so warm that we are looking at installing a damper to divert the heat back into the trailer. Our concern is the water lines next to the outside walls freezing.

Tank heaters draw a few amps and will drain the battery(s). This is what was explained to us…..manufactures install tank heaters to keep tank(s) from freezing while the trailer is plugged into the tow vehicle. Upon arrival at the campsite the tank heaters are turned off and the propane heater is suppose to keep the tanks from freezing.

        .

Correct – a couple of years ago, we experienced strong, cold winds hitting the door side of our rig, Kitchen drawers prevented heat from getting to where the water lines were, which was beside the door side wall. We took out a couple of drawers and got heat back there.

        Thanks for the info.

Rick, What type of temps were you in?

I will have to check where the water lines are run. On the off door side the water heater is located in the slide which I am sure is not very warm down at the floor.

FYI, the tank heating pads are only about 12 x 12 or 12 x 18 inches in size. They are placed adjacent to the drain opening in each tank. At least that is how they were installed on my Alfa.
