- Our center speaker doesn’t work, here what I’ve done so far to fix it:
Thinking it was the receiver I unplugged the center speaker cable and plugged another speaker into that slot, it worked.
Thinking it was a bad speaker; I moved one that was working to the center spot, nothing.
Thinking it must be the cable I replace it from the speaker, the problem the plug-in to the receiver is different so I spliced the new cable to the old plug-in, didn’t work.
The only thing left is to replace the plug-in but I can’t find one, not even at Radio Shack or the Samsung web page.
Any suggestions?
Posted: 10:19 PM – Jun 12, 2013A replacement speaker from Samsung is more than a complete new unit with much better speakers. I had same issue, bad center speaker. Bought new Samsung unit but used old wires. Never had to replace wires or connector. Makes no sense, but way faster and a lot less frustration.Posted: 10:20 PM – Jun 12, 2013A replacement speaker from Samsung is more than a complete new unit with much better speakers. I think I will look for another brand that I can use the speakers with. I don’t believe the speaker is bad just the connector.Posted: 11:32 AM – Dec 13, 2013JohnD222 wrote:A replacement speaker from Samsung is more than a complete new unit with much better speakers. I checked with Best Buy to get a replacement receiver, but can’t find one that will work with the existing Samsung wire connections. JohnD222 where did you buy your replacement home entertainment system that used the old wires? I know I said I didn’t want another Samsung, but if I can get a system that works I will go with it.
Thanks and Merry Christmas
Posted: 4:00 PM – Dec 14, 2013Jim,If i remember correctly, it was either Sams Club (most likely), or COSTCO.
I think it was $159 or $179.
It came with same wire size, color and connectors as the original, and a much better center front speaker than original. I used original wires, but swapped out all of the speakers, not just the broken one. Mounting was slightly different than factory as speakers were in boxes with integrated cover plates, not just cover plates with speamer being screwed into 5er wall partition.
Samsung/Cameo speaker wire is very thin, but fine for the power of these units and size of space being filled with sound. This is stand wiring for low power systems by any manufacturer. Wire end connections at the receiver may be different with a different manufacturer, but you could easily cut off the old ends and splice on the new connector type. Just don’t mix up the speaker locations.
Posted: 12:28 PM – Feb 11, 2014I have had the same center speaker problem and the “rear” speakers rarely worked, even when the broadcast was in Dolby surround sound, same with DVD’s. So sorry Samsung, I sold it at the swap meet and put in a fantastic sounding sound bar with wireless rear speakerPosted: 4:53 PM – Feb 11, 2014Was very surprised (and disappointed) to find out (after 3 phone calls to Samsung) that the home theater system (Samsung HT-E550) in our 2013 Lifestyle is not blue ray!B.W.Gentry
