You tube has some great videos on how to re-string day/night shades so I’m up to speed on repairing one of ours that need attention.
What I’m having trouble with is how to remove the shades. Has any member ever done this, does the shade need to just be twisted down out of a clip, or does it entail removal of the valances to get at the attachments, whatever they are, to enable removal??????????
I don’t want to start yanking down on the blind to see if it pops out of the clips if in fact it won’t and then causes damage to the shade or the mounting to the RV walls.
        Any help is much appreciated.
        Thanks kindly.

I’ve restrung several and was able to remove the bracket by twisting it down and towards me (if that makes any sense). The first time I did remove the valance, but that was before I knew better.

        Hi Jim
Thanks for the tip, got the shade out and proceeded to restring it and wouldn’t you know it; the shades that Carriage used are different than most others. I downloaded 3 different videos and each of the shades shown you are able to separate all 3 of the crossbars from the 2 different fabrics. This enables you to cross the strings at the center bar to be able to get the proper tension needed to lower or raise the blinds.
Took me awhile to figure out a solution which entailed using a wire to thread the cord through the center bar to the opposite side.
Frustrating, but now I know how to fix them for the future.
        Thx

Did you replace the worn out grommets when you did the re-string? All the plastic grommets in my shades were installed backward and had groves worn in them from the string. I used quality smooth metal grommets and my re-strung blinds work better than new. Twice as smooth.

        Terry,

Yeah, they’re a pain, but not too bad. When we have a broken string it usually takes me a week or two (sometimes longer) to get the “desire” to want to do it. Then once I dig in, it only takes an hour or so to actually do the job.

Grommets were fine, so left them alone. I’ve got one more 2 string shade to do so hopefully they’re fine on that one as well.
Are you in the Hill Country again?
If so did you get the freezing ice they predicted?
We are south of Leakey TX and had a tiny bit of ice this morning, but nothing serious.
        Crazy winter though.
        Regards
        Terry
