New Member from New Zealand

Hi everyone, i found this group and joined due to the fact that we are now the proud owners of a 2011 Carriage Cameo 32FWS.

It requires a bit of standard maintenance that is expected of a 10 year old unit, re calking, slide seal replacements etc etc….. also servicing of the hydraulic levelling system and slideout assembly.

But all in all she is in great shape. I am looking forward to doing a bit of reading threw the topics that are on this site..

So its a big hello from New Zealand.

thanks for that. Yes i have browsed Doc’s and Files section and found it worth its weight in gold, very helpful.

I am now looking at purchasing some of the forum stickers to place on my unit… i hope they are still available :)

You should have a solid unit. Hot sun makes routine checking of roof sealant around openings and full length of 5er and slides a must.

Slide motor mounting bolts may not be tight and May need blue loctite and an extra washer to keep them tight.  Oem bolts were too long in some instances.

the slide relay “fix” makes a big difference in slide performance.

Batteries need to be kept charged and watered to have the guts to  move the bigfoots.

Thanks for that great info John, greatly appreciated. Yep I am in the process of replacing all the “D” shaped seals on the slideouts as it still has all the original ones and have perished, im going to inspect and re adjust the slideout action as the front bottom corner of the full wall slide is sticking out more than it should so I will take you advise and inspect the motor mount bolts and look into that “Relay Fix” as you suggested.

The separate battery for the “BigFoots” came with a new AGM battery which is on a separate circuit charge from the Solar System that does the correct charge cycling to suit AGM battery charging.

This unit has a VERY impressive 750watt solar system installed in it which also takes care of 240v ac supply to the unit ( we are 240vac here in New Zealand ) the main unit is a Victron MPPT controller/Inverter charging 24v to 4 x 400ah 6v deep cycle AGM batteries and also has a separate charging outlet to charge a starter type AGM battery which is hooked up to the “Bigfoot battery”, the 24vdc battery bank then supplies power to a 24v stepdown to supply the 12vdc to the unit. The inverted 240vac is supplied direct from the Victron its self.

The roof had suffered a bit of a misshap by the previous owner and had a whole complete renewal done in fibreglass under insurance. The quality of the job and workmanship is very impressive and solid…. and i’m not easily impressed.

Will post up update and some pics at a later date.

the front of the FWS sticking out may be caused by something small falling off the forward bedside shelves and getting stuck between the slide and the outer wall, or that caused it and it was later found and removed.  Regardless the timing cog was probably twisted a bit and needs adjustment. That cog is under the stairs over the propane furnace.  Three bolts should show where oem adjustment was, and stress “scrape” marked to their current position.

if you remove the slide lock from the rear of the slide motor (! tiny ! screws) and loosen the 3 bolts holding the adjusting cog together you can manually move the forward section of the slide (and motor gears) via a big crescent wrench on 1-inch square rod.  It can only be moved so much in either direction because at least one of those bolts is in a round versus slotted hole.  If slide was not adjusted before you should not need to go beyond the range limit imposed by the round hole(s), so easy adjustment putting it back to the beginning of the stress scrape marks.  All of this is behind the rear black wall in the main belly storage area.
