        Hi all,

New owners of a 2011 Carriage Cameo 36FWS.  More-ryde hitch and entry steps, H-rated tires, and hydraulic disk brake mechanical upgrades.  Kitchen island, Sleep Number bed, Samsung smart TVs, leather LazyBoy swivel recliners, leather Ashley Furniture sleeper sofa, and day/night roller shades for interior upgrades.  Pull it with a 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 (SRW) 6.7 Cummins with an Aisin transmission and a Pull-Rite SuperGlide.

Moved up from a 2005 23′ travel trailer.  We’ve had a couple week long trips so far this summer and very satisfied.  We really appreciate all the storage and creature comforts.  Looking forward to a lengthy cross country trip in the Spring if things are back open by then.

        Thanks, Randy and Sue Brown

Welcome!  Fellow 36FWS owners here (2010), and with very similar upgrades, plus we too use a Ram 3500  (2015 dually) + Aisin + airbags.

Such a great package – we’ve had the 5er since new and still fail to see anything better out there. The layout on these is marvelously comfortable and practical.  And the towing with the newer Rams is night & day better than pre-2010 era

But also can’t say it’s been problem-free – many things have cropped up over the years but it seems once you work out the bugs, along with upgrading deficient parts along the way, it’s a great unit. Good bones as they say!

                    Partimewages, John, and Retiredfire,

Thanks for the welcome.  Look forward to gaining some experienced insight and technical info on the “new” to us Carriage here on the website.

                    John,

If possible, it would be great to talk to you about the bug and deficient parts you’ve encountered.  I would like to be proactive in addressing these issues if possible before heading out on a long trip.

                    Thanks,

                    Randy

Since purchasing the 36 FWS, we’ve added a Winegard Traveler satellite dish, Winegard Connect 2.0, and added Airlift Loadlifter 5000 airbags to the truck.  The airbag upgrades have made a very big difference how the trailer tows.

                          RaS,

Check and double check the dicor caulking along the full length of the roof raingutter.   I replace mine every 5 years but i am in Florida sun.  Same with all roof openings for vents, tv/cell/wifi wire entry points etc.  Also the tops of front and rear caps, and the two metal trim pieces that covers the cut in roof material where the roof starts to slope forward and down.  The slides on both sides don’t usually have it at the raingutter, but many have added it because of small leaks.  With the exception of the metal trim at the roof slope transition, these are not unique to the 36fws.  This needs several days to dry in the slide location or it sticks to the rubber seals..  I dicor’d the top of all Windows ” just because” of where I live.  I would not suggest doing that if you have double pane windows-they need servicing frequently.

Add a battery watering system- dry batteries die fast.  Installation is a little more effort than adding water to the battery in tight quarters, but a breeze to correctly top off every month.

Lube those big foot jacks with silicone; the switches with wd-40.  A little silicone lube around the white discs on the MorRyde hit h is useful too.

Propane/smoke alarm every 5 years.  Check the age of your tires – they are great, but 7.5 seasons is all I would trust them  replacement cost sound high until you hear  about costs to repair wheel well and sewer lines after a blowout.

I took down all window valences and removed the dark leatherette pieces, then covered the oem cloth fabric remaining with a lighter colored fabric.  Lots of staples!! to remove, and get a god staple gun for stapling new fabric.  Really lightens up the place, as did adding a light to the overhead kitchen fan.

                          Great units.
