The rear of my trailer gets lots of road grime when driving in the rain or on wet roads. I’ve got the rear hitch and I’m thinking of installing an Enkay Rock Tamers to reduce the spray.

Back in the Summer, I bought some basic mud flaps for the rear tires to reduce the amount of grit and water that is thrown all over the rear Big Foot jacks. They have done wonders for the jacks and I do think that it has helped with the amount of dirt on the rear of the Cameo. Phillip

We also have the mud flaps to protect our Big Foot system and like you I’m sure it helps, but still get lots of road grim on the end cap. The vortex created behind our rigs while driving might be just to much to keep the back clean. But I’ve seen others fivers with flaps and was hoping it would help.

My wife said why order something else, if it’s raining let’s just stay put, maybe she has the right idea.

Here is a product I have seen discussed to improve mileage and reduce road grime.

I don’t like the way they look. We had the same problem on an old Chevy Suburban that we had so I mounted a spoiler to the back roof area. It helped but didn’t alleviate the problem 100%.

Chip, I like the idea and it doesn’t look all that bad. You do see today trucks deflectors that reduce drag and I would image reduces road grim.

        Dear all,

I had the air tabs on my old 5er. It did not have a rear plastic cap like the Cameo.

Regarding rear road grime, they helped a lot, but didn’t alleviate the problem 100%. Vastly improved rear visibility in driving rain and constant mist weather. Never felt a semi pass me or when i passed one. Mileage improvement – i would not bank on it paying for itself unless you pull loaded 100k miles a year.

With Cameo rear cap and location of rear windows. I just don ‘t think they will work as well. The tabs are 5 inches long and the furthest forward portion is supposed to be mounted within 12-18 inches of the rear – so it should have a flat surface 5 inches long beginning 8 to 13 inches of the rear of the 5er max. This means black ones on the windows, white on the balance of the sides (you can cover decals or not), and white on top. The sides should work fine, but with the rear cap and wide transition tape on top, you won’t get ideal sweeping action.

EZ to apply with supplied template, and friendly folks to deal with.

Can’t believe that would work. I guess breaks up the passing air..
Wow what some people come up with.

I have Airtabs and they work. Back stays cleaner, can see better in rain and mileage is improved. Last years trip without them we averaged 11.8 this year we drove the same route and got 12.3. Plus downhill seems to build speed quicker. Ill post a pic when I can.

Would appreciate those that have installed mud flaps on Cameo or Lifestyle could post picture on your installation. Looking for some ideas on installing them.
        Thanks Joe

I bought mud flaps from NAPA and installed them on my Cameo. I did the same to the Lifestyle. They do a tremendous job of keeping road grim a d water off the rear big foot jacks. So I don’t have a pic to post now. NAPA has a great selection. Phillip
