Hello everyone!  We are trying to find our next Carriage and we found a lovely Cameo with the Arizona Room option.   What can I say… it was love at first sight.  That said, I know how hard it is to keep water out of the normal holes cut into roofs.  Can anyone help steer us in the right direction?  Are Arizona Rooms notorious for leaking?  I hope to hear from Arizona Room owners that still love or regret their skylights.  We aren’t newbies and have lots of experience maintaining roof seals.  Are these skylights a nightmare for water intrusion or are they designed as well as everything else in a Carriage?

Sorry that no Arizona Room owners have replied.

I tgink that if tge ceiling is now in good condition, it only takes normal maintenance to keep it tgat way.  But if it is ignored, results can be catastrophic.  The need to keep adaquate sealant around those ceiling windows is no different than sealing around vents fans etc.  The only difference is that tge sealant on those windows don’t get exposed to sun unless tge slide is out – that is good.  The negative aspect is that the top slide seals drag over them every time you open or close the slide.  I do not know but suspect that the roof of the slide is not nearly as strong as the roof on the 5er.  This means tgat I doubt that you can get on top of the slide roof ( most easily done by stepping down from tge 5er roof) to inspect or maintain the sealant.  You will need a tall step ladder to do that from the ground.

I thought that there were several discussions about this on the old forum, but when I used search, all that I came up with was

          https://www.carriage-lifestyle-owners-club.com/owners-only/member-extras/how-to-library/repairs-and-replacements-2/

That has a video of a complete replacement and restoration to a traditional roof.  Good photos of the structure of that slide and windows.

I think a lot of the old content is still out there, but search does not search text of some postings because some postings were transferred to a new site as non searcable pictures of text not searchable text.  But who knows.  Getting what we got from the old sites before they went dark was a Herculean effort

Thank you for your input.  Definitely lightly used and we will be able to tell if it’s been cared for as they say it has been once we actually examine the roof and seals… very carefully.  Very good point about the skylights and their seals being swept by top slide sweep regularly  The skylights certainly will require extra care but I’m thinking it may be worth it.  I’ve gotten really good with dicor and a caulk gun; we do have our own scaffolding for safer maintance.
