Anyone own a Cameo 31ksls?
Postby boondockers2 » 04 May 2016 10:54We are seriously considering one of these models and wondering if anyone has/had one.
We will be living in it for about a year and then traveling. Is there enough room in it for fulltiming? Or does it feel clausterphobic?
How has the rear entry worked out at CGs?
How do you like the layout? The recliner is so far from the TV, I was wondering about that…
How does the tight space around the bed feel on a daily basis in terms of making the bed, walking around, etc.?
Is the closet deep enough?
Is there room in the shower for a stool?
Is there enough CCC for fulltiming? This unit has 2,726.
Comments on anything else that I have not mentioned would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

What one person thinks is claustrophobic another thinks comfy.

Really no different than any other placement of door.

I think my sight/ hearing might be better or worse than yours. trying it out is best.

All rv’s are smaller than what you might be use too. How nimble are you?
Is the closet deep enough?
You will have to down size your wardrobe. Limited space. Limited weight.
Is there room in the shower for a stool?
Use the toilet it works better. Seriously it’s probably tight.
Is there enough CCC for fulltiming? This unit has 2,726.
You will have to pick and chose what is important to have.

Postby Itinerant1 » 04 May 2016 14:57This is my personal opinion. My 2005 was built better than my 2010. I think like most manufacturers during that period of time where trying to keep their head above the economy downfall so some short cuts might have been take.
I did by a second Carriage because it is built pretty stout. I like the back compartment for dispersing some of the weight. Bigfoot levelers where a must. I hate the electric awning, constantly worried about breeze wrecking it. The old pull down style with the middle brace we had would take wind like no tomorrow. Sure there are some lemons that make down the assembly I haven’t bought one so my opinion is probably higher than a guy that had a lot of issues with theirs.Hopefully others will chime in.

Re: Anyone own a Cameo 31ksls?
Postby rwb_wl » 04 May 2016 15:21My wife and I have a 2011 Cameo 31KSLS. We have spent about 6 months in it the past 3 years. We like its compact size, but lots of interior storage, with the front wardrobe and the storage area in the kitchen slide that is designed for a side by side washer/dryer (that we don’t have). We have upgraded the stock rear chairs with Laz-y-Boy Harbor Town models, and changed out the TV from a 37″ Samsung LCD to a 42″ Visio LED, which is close to the same overall height and width but more viewing space. Our unit came with 2 A/C units from the factory, but none of them are heat pumps. Not sure if I answered all your questions from this and another post you made.
Our unit was imported to Canada and has the Canadian CSA package which is larger brake assemblies (12″ by 2.5″), dual pane windows, extra insulation, 42,000 btu furnace and other electrical and propane modifications.
Anyhow, welcome aboard and should you have any more questions, ask away. There are at least 2 of us who have this model, and one fellow who traded his unit for a 36FWS.

Postby boondockers2 » 04 May 2016 15:54Thank you, rwb_wl! I LOVE the 36fws!! My favorite! But…the 2009 that was available had only 951 lb CCC!! NOT enough storage!!
How much CCC did yours have? This unit has 2,726 lb CCC and I am wondering if that is enough for two fulltiming with W/D.
How have you fared in terms of steps being farther back than the CG picknick pad, or whatever it’s called?
How have you felt in terms of space? Have you felt cramped ever? How about the tiny space around each side of the bed? Is it hard to make the bed? Get around it?

Postby rwb_wl » 05 May 2016 15:12Boondocker. I don’t know the CCC, but I weighted the rig a week ago as we were coming back from our winter vacation. In Canada, we weigh in kilograms, and hooked to the truck, the front trailer axle was 2690 kg, and the rear axle was 2620 kgs. I think the tongue weight is about 1,360 kgs.
No problem with the rear door entry, we sometimes use a folding platform to access the lower step. No issues with space; the opposing slides in the rear make the unit feel somewhat spacious.
We have the queen sized bed and no issues making the bed.
If you install a 2 piece washer/dryer, you will be giving up considerable storage space; we use RV park facilities.

Re: Anyone own a Cameo 31ksls?
Postby jdpm » 05 May 2016 17:25We purchased a new 2011 31ksls back in 2011. We were attracted to the Carriage product for the quality. The interior fit and finish and some of the other features for a rig of its size were unbeatable. We traded it 2 years later for a 2014 LS36fw. We LOVE it but at times miss the shorter length for parking and maneuvering but that’s all we miss.
Although we prefer a queen bed, we did not like the lack of any additional space on either side of the bed. It felt a bit claustrophobic. Making was a bit of pain as the mattress had to pulled down but not bad.
We liked the bathroom just fine but did NOT like having to go up and down the steps at night.
The kitchen was more than adequate including a pantry.
Our biggest complaint was the TV viewing from the recliners. We didn’t like having to move the recliners everytime the RV was moved.
The few things we didn’t like about the rig we kind of ignored at the time we deciced to purchase the rig. Evenutally thoe things annoyed us enough to trade it for a LS36fw.
If you don’t mind these things, I think you will find the rig very nice and comfortable.
It had the warmest bathroom floor of any RV I ever owned! LOL
Good luck. Phillip

Were those few things the things that you already mentioned, or are they different? Would love to know, what they were, if different.
Is that Lifestyle that you traded it in for?
Were you limited as to where you could go with the longer 36fw, in terms of NPs, etc. as compared to the 31ksls?? The reason I’m asking, is that there is also a 36fws that is available.

Yes, those things listed are why we traded it for the Lifestyle. Very happy with it. We say to one another on occasion, “if we had the Cameo, we could have gone to…..”. But we sure do love the space in the LS, the bath door in the bedroom and the better TV viewing area.

Postby jdpm » 06 May 2016 15:54Yes. From ladder to pin box it is almost 40 feet. We can no longer go to Anastasia State Park in St Augustine. Other parks we do have to make sure we get certain sites that accommodate a longer rig.
