      Hi,

Would anyone know the locations of the limit switches for the FWS? Ours is not stopping when extending the slide. We suspect a limit switches issue but not sure where to find them.  I believe there is one under the garbage can area, and the one behind the bedroom door. Is there a set of limit switches for each slide ram?

I have tried searching but have not found an answer .  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated !

If the Lifestyle is like the Cameo’s, you are correct that there are switches, one for in and one for out behind the panel in the garbage can area.   Plus you have the limit switch behind the bedroom door which needs to activated to allow the slide to go in and out.

          jack’ photo on 3/11/23.

          FWS Relay install + troubleshooting

ignore his carpet removal.  Photo is taken from 2-door opening under sink.  Door on left is access to garbage can.  Arrow points to limit switch inbound.  Outbound limit is on the right side of that opening.

the roller switches I bought with success at Amazon are no longer available, but this looks similar.

also available in 5-pack for $19

Without the relay mod the limit switches on our 2014 FWS had to pass the total current of the slide motor.  The motor is rated at 15 amps and the switches are only rated for 1/2 amp DC.  If the switches do not stop the slide the contacts may be welded together or they could be out of adjustment.  In any case if you add the relay mod you need to replace the switches.  Look behind the sliding panel where the trash can is stowed.  The limits for the door side slide are located under the zipper panels in the bottom fabric cover underneath.  There is one on both sides.  The relay mod needs to be done for that side too.  The motor is also under one of the zipper panels.  Those switches also have to pass the full motor current and can become intermittent.

You can see how I did ours at http://www.radio-man.com/slide.html

We found that our FWS limit switches are not being used at all, as the previous owner bypassed the switches over the door. They put in a new switch in basement right above the water pump area and ran 10 ga wire direct from it to the slide motor. The limit switches for the big slide are not in the garbage can area either.

                  JLsr,

Although briefly inconvenient especially in heavy rain, that is a cheap fix for the OEM wiring that is WAY too long for the gauge used. The BIG disadvantage if tf that bedroom door is not closed you will crush it or the hallway cabinets.

Not sure what they did, but if it was me, I would have left everything OEM simply disconnected in the vicinity of the motor and at the fuse source.

I really cannot believe that they took the time to remove the TWO limit switches under the garbage can.  You need to remove the shelf and the thin side wall of that cabinet opening and look down into the hole in the main floor where the sink drain and other things go below the floor.

your problem is solved unless you want to attempt the relay fix to get the door stop switch back into the system.

This is interesting information.  I have issues with my fws switch intermittently working.  I have installed the relay ( not sure that’s the correct term) above the water pump area many years ago with no issues.   I thought the issues of the slide not going in when the switch was pushed was due to the limit switches.  After replacing and adjusting them many times, the in switch works intermittently.  I have to remove the wires at the relay and jump the motor to get the slide to go in which is not difficult but annoying.  I have run out of causes for this intermittent problem.  Anyone have any ideas?

                      Pk,

The “in” is controlled by the bedroom door limit switch – same as others but wired differently, and if it allows juice to flow to the motor,  the more inboard limit switch under the garbage can/peninsula shuts juice off when slide is in.

We have a 2011 32 few. I know where the switches are for the full slide but not the other one, and have blown fuses. Also, who can rig the slides along with getting new windows and trim parts. Also like to know wiring schematic. Thank you.

                          Welcome to the forum.

This topic is about Lifestyle FWS, not carriage/Cameo models. Use search engine for other topics and post your question within those topic areas if you not find the answer.

However, my 2010 Cameo 36FWS had no limit switches on the dinette slide – you could pop the interior trim of or severely bend the outside wings if you did not let go of the switch.  Just bring it in or out until you hear the motor strain, then bump it back in the opposite direction to relieve the pressure/strain on motor and slide parts.  My 2013 Lifestyle 35FWS does have limit switches for the dinette slide.  Uncertain about 2011, but I doubt you have them.

There is no known wiring diagram/schematic for any of these.
