Hello everyone. I’ve got a 2006 Cameo by Carriage. I’m having issues with the dimmable G4 puck lights in the main living area / kitchen. The dimmer by the door controls the 5 overhead puck lights. I’ve got 3 out of the 5 that are working. All new bulbs. On the back set of 6, all new bulbs and none are working. The back driver side dimmer does not illuminate any.
on the passenger side slide out, the dining area fixture has been replaced with a new overhead light, nothing. The overhead reading light, nothing. On the back under counter lights, both work.
Does anyone have a schematic or wiring diagram? Or point me in the right direction? Note, all puck lights in the under cubbord Sind (2) work, the hallway puck lights work, and all lights in the bedroom work. So I’ve got 3 of 5 working with the door dimmer, and none of 6 working with the rear driver side back dimmer. And no dining area overhead nor under cabinet reading light…

All fuses are good, no loose wires at transformer… no circuit breakers thrown.

          Frank,

New to you, always been this way under my ownership, or I just had “x” repair done and this problem appeared a short time later.

were the lights in question not working the same way before you changed the bulbs?  Did you end up with fewer not working or different ones not working?

did you use tissue paper or gloves when handling the new halogen bulbs to keep finger grease off the bulbs?  If not, bulbs do not last long at all.

All bulbs the same manufacturer?  Try a known good bulb where one is not working – use gloves or tissue paper!  If the “good” bulb works in previously dead location you know it is a bulb issue, not wiring.  Now try a dead bulb in a known good light working location.  If that dead bulb works new location, it is a wiring issue at the original location.

if you or former owner swapped led’s for original halogens, the dimmers need to get changed.  When doing that dimmer changeout it is very very important to not swap the + for the – wires.  That is not as important if halogen dimmers, but better not to mix them up.

The “all 6 out” sounds like a wire came loose, but I would first try one of those dead bulbs in a fixture that is working correctly now.

there are several “blank” covers to electrical boxes on the walls of the slide outs.  Some are 110 volt AC; dome 12 volt DC. That is probably the source of the problem for the overhead dining and under cabinet reading in that slide.

ceiling lights should not be wired through the slides.

any wires off the back of the 12 volt fuse panel come loose?  Unlikely, but a visual from the drivers side water tank sliding access  door may indicate otherwise.

Turn off battery power via cutoff switch  pull the dimmers in question and bypass dimmer by connecting the + and – directly.  Take a photo of wires before you disconnect from switch so you can put back properly.  Turn on 12 volts.  Any difference?   If yes, definitely the dimmer.  If no, it is wiring – either no 12 volts to that dimmer or an open line(s) downstream from that dimmer.

I assume you have a strong battery and that slides work in and out.  A weak battery can cause all kinds of weird side effects.
